I just read a comment on one of my posts that stated “I love that marketing is all you do.  I wish I could just focus on that.”  I’ve been blessed with that ability to just market.  It’s been a long 35 years, but it was my goal to eventually wind down and pick what I wanted from all of the tasks that I’ve been doing over the years.

Selecting marketing was a good choice.  As I watch and listen to the horror stories about appraisers, buyers, sellers and other agents, it’s really a blessing to focus on marketing and be removed from that “pot of boiling water” that today’s real estate agent is threatened by every day.  Every transaction has an issue today.

Real estate agents today earn their money ten-fold compared to past decades of working in this business.  There is nothing to compare this market to, and I’m very thankful that I missed the bullet.

I earned my keep in the past; made my commissions; handled them properly and took advantage of as much education as I could fit into my schedule.  I developed two niche areas that allowed me to sail through the final years of real estate transactions, and now there is a team that has taken over.

Yes, I love that marketing is all that I do, and I’ve been blessed that I can just focus on that.  All real estate agents have the same opportunity, and it all depends on how you design what you are doing right now.  You’re calling the shots.

Loreena..... you keep sharing what you do and it will make you stronger....it reinforces what you do.... there's no reason to be threatened....no one will follow and if they do it won't be for long...and if it is, it will be done differently....and if it's better, I'd better step up my game!!!

Doug....  right....

What a good example you are Barbara for real estate agents. .

There is life after all . .and still be in real estate after you have shown your last house.

It all requires proper planning. .

Barbara, I am doing a dance since you said today's agent earns their money ten-fold over times past. That is such a true statement.

I completely agree Barbara and I suspect when my husband "retires" from his day job he will become my full-time marketing person handling all of the myriad of tasks that keep the phones ringing.

I much prefer to be the Broker/Owner.  Every once in a while I get thrust back into listing a home and I apologize to my Agents if I have been unrealistic with them.  It's tough out there.

Barbara, it's great that you have earned the ability to concentrate on marketing only.  I and my husband are a 2 person team, so we can't designate one of us to do marketing only.  However, I believe that marketing is so important that I do marketing in most of my free time.

Hi Barbara, I love the idea of marketing for a team. Maybe someday. I have some help with mine, (my husband), and you are so right, it is a full time job even though as a one woman team, it seldom gets full time attention.

Nancy.... marketing is a full time job just as working as an agent is too.... can't do both full time....

Barbara, my role in our team is the marketing. I am not where you are, I am still in the trenches. But it makes sense as marketing is a full time job.

When my listing and selling gets in the way of marketing, it hurts our business later on.

I knew I wanted to work as a team, each of us has our strengths, different strengths. And my partners would be happy to chain me to my computer...

Andrea.... a marketing agent needs to be chained to that computer.... you have two full time jobs....
