Yesterday I had a call from a client we sold a house to this year.  She and her husband purchased a home in Corte Bella.

Susan was calling to ask for copies of her HUD statement and other portions of the transaction.    We keep copies of everything on our computer so these items were easy to find.

The reason she was calling is because she just lost her husband two weeks ago, due to an ailment, and the accountant needed it.  She thanked me for the quick response.  It was one less thing she had to deal with.

Lesson:  Keep all records somewhere that you can access anytime, anywhere.

always best to keep records handy, we. All seem to get those calls, some better than others. Loss is never a good reason.

David,

I am glad I was able to provide this for her in a short period of time.

Caron,

She did tell me that this was their favorite house in their 34 year marriage.

I am sure she was grateful not having to deal with something else after such a loss. And, yes, it is so important we keep our records. Speaking of, I need to do a back-up of my computer or make some deposits in the Cloud!

A sad reason to call but good you were able to help.  After a closing, I keep the important papers in my files.  Going forward it will be even easier!  Now that my office keeps documents on Back Agent, I can email them with a click.

absolutely.. I send a copy every November to all my closings that year for a few reasons 1. make contact

2. provide for taxes if applicable and 3. include a hand written sincere note checking on them... I typically get calls and emails within a few days and it helps with a follow up note in their Christmas Card. Been doing this for years and seems the two "touch" system really benefits and they tend to reach out for other needs or inquiries throughout the yr.

Shannon,

Thank you for reminding me!

Dianne,

You never know what a client might need and why.

Michele,

These are great things to put into place for future use.

We actually keep all of our documents on filesanywhere.com. The great thing about being on the cloud is that you can access your documents anywhere, anytime from a computer. An assistant or colleague can also if you grant access. It makes life so much easier and doesn't clog up your storage on your computer.

This is a good reminder that all of us need to maintain access to sales records.

Have an outstanding week with your camera in hand.
