30 Comments on Senior Citizens Day is Aug. 21-Trading Rocking Chairs for Motorcycles!
I love this! My mom just turned 70 and she has gotten more and more into using the internet, computer, etc...good for her!
Good morning Kathy -
You're right seniors don't look so much like senior citizens these days :) We went to a neighborhood party Saturday night for all the August babies. Several there were 60,70 and one couple had just turned 80. None looked their age and all were on top of their game talking about their new techy toys, camping and cross country motorcycle adventures. There is hope for we youngsters... LOL.
Good Morning Kathy, what a special day for our seniors. I love and miss President Reagan. I love how you find all these great days. Have a great Monday.
My mother is 72 and learned pretty much everything herself on the computer. She is amazing. A few years she told me to get with the program and "Download Skype already". LOL - Needless to say we stay in touch!
Hi Kathy.... didn't realize I was in such illustrious company! I'm grateful every day that I choose to learn new internet/tech programs :)
James- I'd bet you're celebrated every day!
Conrad- I keep telling everyone that 60 is the new 40... yep.. and someday I hope they'll believe it.
Gita- honestly, I hadn't either. Although they have a day for everyone else so why not!
BarbaraT- you are so lucky! And I'd bet she passed those genes on to you. Has she tried working an online jigsaw puzzle.. I have one and love it. You actually download the puzzle to your computer.
Mike- now I'm really impressed! I'm pretty computer savvy but I've never worked on mine. Larry just put a new power supply in our desk top. (cost? $10)
Gabe- can you imagine if the whole state celebrated! The whole state would come to a stand still.
Joanna- I look at some of the ones over 60 and they're totally not what 60 was to us growing up. You're right... we're taking better care of our health.
BARFF- but we're in our "40's"!!!!!
Michael- living in Florida you see a lot of "seniors"... and the ones that walk at Green Cay are full of life and always on the go and they're in their late 70's.
Fred- I think the internet is a wonderful thing for seniors. My 75+ year old friend reads the paper on it, and is very savvy. Good for your aunt and uncle!
Kristin- Can you imagine what we'd miss if we didn't have the Internet!
John(QMan)- I just spoke to a friend today who retired from teaching this year. She's 65+ and said she's busier now than she was when she was teaching.
Scott- I think Reagan is missed by many. Hey, if you want a "senior" experience next time you're in Delray.. go to The Boys market!
Susanna- LOL now that's funny. I bet she's a hoot.
Peggy- so am I. I've never had any kind of computer classes,so when I learn something new I feel great.
Wow...does this mean there will be an extra dollar off the early bird special?....lol
Good morning Kathy,
And, yes 60 is the new 40. The internet and technology has come a long way to helping seniors remain active and vibrant!
Tripled? That is absolutely amazingly mindboggling today!! I agree - 60 IS the new 40... however, I'm still going to have fun razzing my parents tomorrow!! Happy Monday Kathy!!
Kathy,
This is a great list of people you compiled, and I really enjoyed this post. A
Apparently, I am in pretty good company, Kathy! And, while I don't have a motorcycle, I would love to have one!
Suggested, and I will reblog it tomorrow, Kathy. I don't feel "old", but I know that I am. I found it interesting that Ginger Baker, whom I thought was long dead...turned 72 the other day. So, there is still hope that I might live a while yet.
Hi Kathy, I am there...so Happy Seniors Day to me and my husband :)
Kathy, Good info to share and for the rest of us to know. Wish our Country had planned better for these great numbers in many different ways. Thank goodness 60 is the new 40
Kathy
60 is the new 40 and the word senior may be missing the mark today, it's now active adult.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Jeffrey- very funny- one advantage of being here is that so many of the restaurants have dining incentives now because it's off season.l
Dorie- I marvel at some of the mothers of my friends. The're very much with it and still going strong in their 90's.
Emily- ok.. razz your parents but I'll bet they love every minute of it.
Alexandra- can you believe how old some of these people are. I love Diane Sawyer and she still looks like she's in her 40's.
Suzanne- I'd say we're in awesome company. Robert Redford could show up at my door any time!
Ron- thank you! Are you talking about Ginger Baker of Cream? 72? how can that be??
Rebecca- yep! Join the club!!!
Bobbie- I guess no one ever thinks they'll be old!
Kathy, I work with many seniors, and sadly I think I am venturing into that age! I just set up two clients that were both 70, (that will be a blog!) and they can and are very active!
Lou- I like that term much better!
Joan- I can't wait to read your post about the 2 clients you had. I marvel at some of my friends' parents who are in their 90's and still going strong.
Kathy-I'm happy to know that 60 is the new 40. The old 40 used to be pretty much over the hill, but not anymore. I can't wait to start using this new math.
Wayne- isn't that the truth. I like the new math!!!
