The Push to Learn Video - Are YOU Ready?

By

Is Video In YOUR Future?... It REALLY is the way to go! Video

Realtor's do a good deal of similar things to get homes sold. There are those that are better at it than others, and style and dedication are reflected in how much success is experienced.  I think that there is a learning curve in everything accomplished and trying new and interesting ways to market homes and myself is important. Any way to set myself apart from the masses and be unique in getting attention to my properties and me, is a great strategy. Recently video seemed to make perfect sense!

I began Craig Daniels Video Essentials Class a few weeks ago.  I know that many people are starting to do video and have their own style and reasons for doing it one way or another. While that may work for them, I found that the concept was overwhelming. Before I knew Craig, video was never on my agenda. (Neither was blogging for that matter). Now that I understand the SEO value to video I am on board to meet the challenge.

The class is online and I can work at my own pace. It is not just a tutorial though that you listen and do. It has far more value than that. Ten modules to take me through the how and why specific to business, seems to be a logical way to begin. During that time homework is assigned and reviewed with Craig and my peers taking the class. It is a great way to share and learn from each other. When things aren’t going well, Craig is available to answer questions and quickly responding in our classroom setting. It makes such a difference to have that ability to get direct answers.

We are about a dozen now in the class and growing every day. Learning at my own pace makes sense with our crazy schedules. When I have a spare moment I find myself taking out the video camera and practicing my skills. I will admit that am not always taking videos of things for work. I think this year my vacation has some room for a bit of video to capture the moments. Good practice of my new found skills.

Is video in your future? Think about where Real Estate Marketing is headed and where you see yourself in the bigger picture. I think that getting into the process now can only be beneficial for the future. It is not going away anytime soon. Just like blogging for me.... I only wished I started sooner.

Get off the fence and join us in class!

Janis:  Video is one thing that I KNOW I should tackle and get involved in, but have not followed up on, as of yet.  I think part of my hesitation is caused by what the topic or focus of MY videos will be.  Not being an agent, I will not have a home to feature in the video.  I will most likely be much of the focus ... and that intimidates me a little.  I'm going to have to get beyond that in large measure.  For agents, I do believe that this class could immediately make a large difference to your business and prove extremely valuable.  I hope by featuring your post here in BananaTude ... many agents will read it and be inspired to take action ASAP ...

John and Irma... I am told that it matters.... and I want to be a part of the process and therefore the class makes sense. It is easier to get it right the first time!

Dick~ The class is very beneificial and when I first got the camera before starting the class I realized that without and guidance the learning curve was going to be huge.... working this way changes everything. =) See you in class!

Carie ~ YOU should sign on .. It would be fun to be in class together!

Jeanne and Ralph ~ come back when you are ready as the class is there when you are!

Gay ~ Glad to help!

Gene ~ Thanks for the "Feature" .. but i do believe that YOU TOO can benefit on the videos.Just focus on the area in which you live. Promoting your location is a way to get noticed. Local events and why someone might want to live there. I am planning to do that sort of video and neighborhoods, and only a bit of the individual homes. Marketing to things that have a longer search life than the individual listing is better for google to find any of us down the road.. don't you think?

Good evening Janis. How smart of you to get ahead of the curve. Things change and you have embraced rather than cursed the future. Congrats.

Great article.  It is the future.  Years ago I sold my car to the west coast all through video.  The client was able to see it run, hear it, plus see everything in action.  Now this translates the same way to homes.

Hi Janis, I hope it is in my future! I have added it to my list and hope I'll be able to check into it (Craig's class?) soon. I was a Mass Media major way back when ... maybe I'll remember some stuff once I dive into it again.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you have learned *hint, hint*

Sheila... i am looking forward to getting some actually published in the near future... how fun is that?? it was NEVER on my to do list.. so i guess that list will always be longer and longer..

Peter I agree that it is important.. it is not the future. it is today! I'm just late and others will be even later!

Andrea~ I remember being in college with the mass media majors and never having a clue what they studied and what they would do after school. but that means you should have a good background for all this!! See you in class!

Kathy ~ you have that right.. some days are just over before i get started!

Janis - I just came over to visit your blog to catch up (crazy week).- WOW what a great write up and encouragement for video. I'm so happy my class is proving value and I can't wait to see all the great stuff I know the students will produce for their business. Thanks for this terrific write up :)

My pleasure Craig.. if you never pushed me to go for it i would never have started video.. OR blogging! I never knew what I was missing. This is all so helpful, and I can see that there are many who think they can't do it. When others actually pave the way it makes a big difference. Like i said from the beginning.. showing us from the way... and assuming we know nothing is so important.... at least from my perspective, it is why getting started was so difficult.

Janis, video is definitely one of my top priorities and I have to learn how to make it happen.  Going to do a video of my kitchen demolition and put a toe in the water.  Thanks for reminding up with this great post.

Janis:  Greatly appreciate the comment .. and the ideas.  Never would have thought of that ... and I guess that's exactly why Craig's class would prove so beneficial to me.  Lesson learned!  Thanks again,

Janis, i'm glad this one got out there on the class...i will tell you that one of my home videos has a large number of views & i use that one to showcase to sellers what i can do for them also.  I'm cheating today and doing an IMovie since it is so much easier to do on a extraordinary Narragansett shop i was in last night...jewelry is amazing.  btw, i put the hollow trunk chair made by her father out on my FB Business page thru instagram last night...i want to successfully help local business reach the next level...think about that side to ...it will bring fans to you!!

Joanne ~ I can't wait to see the kitchen! what colors will the new one be?

Ginny ~ I have an ipad that i want to learn too, but one step at a time for me... Sooo much on my plate right now.... and I'm headed off for some vacation. I will learn that too, but i am not sure that it is going to be my first choice for the video. I movie does seem popular though, so i will give that a shot too. ( new website/WP blog forthcoming and too much work!)

thanks for the ideas on the Instagram.. i downloaded it and never did much with it.. thanks for pointing out the value to that too! Makes perfect sense...

Kathy ~ I do believe Criags class has us in front of the camera for one assignment.. I am not planning on using that for the general population though. I don't mind experimenting with that part, and also talking over the video, but the adventure continues for me. I doubt you will be me in front of the camera either!! It is of course a personal choice for those that like to and those of us that don't!!  You should join the class.. its fun!
