Desire can over-ride circumstance

I have heard it again, you can't do that.  I was in the mall and was standing in line at a local coffee house, you may have heard of it, Starbucks?  Anyway, there was a Woman with her Son standing behind me, he asked his mom, if he could be president someday.  She responded that would be impossible.  He asked her why and she told him that it is just not in the Cards.

I was wondering what deck she was playing with.  I also wondered what crap she was dealing her son.  That is a great way of limiting his potential.  He was about 9 years old.  Imagine what he will amount to if he thinks there are limits to imagination and dreams.

I cannot tell you how often I have been told I cannot do something.  Or, hey Connor, you are crazy for quitting a perfectly good job, with benefits, when you are only three years from a vested pension.

Crazy and Can't do are not part of how God made me (maybe the Crazy).  I know if you want it bad enough it is possible, even in this market.  Real Estate, loans, sales in general all have something in common, besides selling, they happen to be what people need.

In Real Estate for example, something we are familiar with, there are people that are needing to buy homes now.  There are people that are going to be slapped by the IRS if they don't identify a property within the next 45 days.  There are people that are needing to sell because they are carrying two mortgages due to them buying a new home that won't take contingencies.  There are people that are getting divorced, experiencing death, disease or job loss.  These are facts that are much too painful to even consider.  But the point that I am trying to make is somewhere, someone, is buying a home.

So HUNT!!!  So find them.  Go after those people.  Logically, where would you call to find those people that need to invest their money within 45 days.  How about the local tax offices in your city.  Divorces - The local family law attorneys.  The people holding two mortgages, call the new home developments in neighboring states to get those leads in your towns.  You are in sales, you might be a crappy salesman, like me, but that should give you the edge to have these people refer business to you!

Try not eating because you don't have the money, try having every bill collector on the planet wanting a piece of what you don't have.  Try being diagnosed with a catastrophic illness or disease.  I could go on but I would be beating a dead horse.

Be happy with what you and be thankful for everything in your life, even the pain.

Remember, if you want it go and get it!!!

Connor With Honor.

Great post!  How awful of that mother to deny her son's dreams.  Life is what you make of it not what you are handed!

It drives me nuts when people tell me I can't do something.  It tends to make me work harder to prove them wrong.  My Boston Marathon was a great example as so many people told me I couldn't really do it.

Love that picture of the cat and deer!!!  Classic!!

Connor,

I'm so glad I've discovered your blog....I've really enjoyed reading some of them this morning and although I have to now run, I'll be back to read more.

My son always says 'if you don't want, you don't get.'  and it seems to have worked out great for him....anything he wants he goes after with gusto and usually gets.

Hi Connor,
Thanks to Jo-Anne for introducing you.  I like your attitude of go for it!  That's the way to succeed.

I came here from Jo's blog because I "knew" her taste and she did not dissapoint me! You are absolutely right. Desire is the bottom line, no matter what! Funny, but I was told (born in a different age than yourself) that there were many things I could not do, as a woman! It seems to have aroused a competitiveness instead that I may not otherwise have developed. Three brothers to beat can make for a determined woman!  Love the photo!

Connor, I hate dream killers and I stay away or ignore them. Always go for it.
