Outdoor enthusiasts want to move from the congested larger cities to a simpler, less hectic way of life. Surrounded by the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests, these mountains serve as a rich habitat for deer, wild turkey, and other animals as well as hiking, camping and mountain biking. There are also six Lakes within about 30 minutes of each other that provide access to boating, fishing and canoeing. And let's not forget all the great creeks and rivers for whitewater rafting, kayaking and tubing.
Another reason why more and more families want to move to the Murphy, NC area is the great school systems we have here and offer smaller classes. Cherokee County Schools provide educational services to approximately 3,569 students ranging from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve.
