Outdoor enthusiasts want to move from the congested larger cities to a simpler, less hectic way of life. Surrounded by the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests, these mountains serve as a rich habitat for deer, wild turkey, and other animals as well as hiking, camping and mountain biking. There are also six Lakes within about 30 minutes of each other that provide access to boating, fishing and canoeing. And let's not forget all the great creeks and rivers for whitewater rafting, kayaking and tubing.

My favorite glasses came from a nifty gem shop there.  I wonder if it's still open.  It was right on 441 I think.
