O Solo Mio

Whether you live in San Diego or just here on a visit, if you long for an authentic Gondola ride Italian style, like what you might expect in Venice, you are in luck.

The Gondola Company of San Diego offer rides through the canals and waterways of Coronado Cays and while I have yet to take this ride, I am assured by the guys in the photo that you will have a truly wonderful experience. The rides last about 45 to 50 minutes but they have been known to last a bit longer for some special guests like newly weds.

There are various types of cruises but I am told ( by the same guys ) that the sunset cruises are the most popular and the most exciting. The cost is $115 for a couple but they have special pricing and gondolas for larger groups.

So when you are in San Diego, experience the best of San Diego and the Coronado Cays canals and waterways. If toasting the sunset sounds like fun, they invite you to bring your favorite wine and they will furnish the blankets and wine glasses.

Can't you just hear it, " O Solo Mio" !

Hi Sheila, We have had some really warm days and evenings and what could be better than to be on the water and allow ones imagination to take us off into far away places and experience what others may only be able to dream about. San Diego is a wonderful place to thrive.

Hi Steve, I learned this idea from another ActiveRain person that proceeded me in being a member of the nettwork. She is from Hawaii and I made your exact comment to her. I was certain the tourist industry would be delighted with her efforts. Cool thing about the Rain and what we can learn to better take advantage of where we live. Tell about it and show it and others will get the idea of makes our home special for each one of us. Of course you do that in spades yourself.

William,

You reminded me of a PBS show on gondola building, and the art of building one.  The Gondola Company looks like a great way to visit a different side of San Diego.  We have always enjoyed our trips to San Diego.  A

Didn't realise that there was another side to the Coronado Cays that's miles away from the Venetian in Las Vegas and Venice.

Hi Karen, I love the rain so much that I would love it. That said, no worry because it doesn't rain here very often. Sometimes ( rarely) in the winter months but otherwise, even rain dances don't work. The only way to get wet would be to stick your hand over the edge and hope that you could reach the water or carry a squirt gun, LOL.

William  We lived in San Fran for 7 years - we have been in some serious rain storms in the winter.  If we were in San Diego there would be a record rainfall regardless of your rain history
