Bankrates Opinions on Lifestyle Options?

Saw an email notification today that Bankrate had named six best places to retire.  The qualifications were long life expectancy, low crime rate, and low poverty levels amongst seniors.

Now maybe it's just me...but if I were elderly, the last place I'd want to live would be far north where winter was 5 months long and full of snow and ice.  Or other places that had bad winters and very little to do on top of that...(see Iowa - neat little gingerbread home above is an example)  Unless you are very rich, I've always thought the Hawaiian Islands were for movie stars and plastic surgeons.

Give me Myrtle Beach or some place like Destin Florida.  What about climate?  What about low taxes?  But here are what they said were the best 6 places to retire...

Iowa, Connecticutt, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Utah.  Utah might not be so bad...

Haha i share your opinion completely!
When I was on the search for a new condo, the riva-condo showed me a couple of buildings in the north... and my answer was hell no . What we eventually bought was a condo in ft lauderdale, florida.. sun and nice weather is everything you need. You don't need the hawaiian islands, when you have all that real estates in the south that are much cheaper and offer almost the same living conditions.
