Some Short Sales Really Break Your Heart. There is no doubt that I take much of my Rhode Island real estate business to heart. I wonder why I was created this way. However, I am who I am. Yet dealing in the world of short sales can put a kind of armor around you as a real estate agent so you respectively keep the emotions locked up...as best you can.
I was thinking back on one of my short sales recently where I had to have the two short sale sellers in separate rooms in order to keep peace and buyers in another. Emotions can run high and most realtors do not talk about this side of a transaction but it impacts all involved.
The sellers were going their separate ways. The Banks were being tough with them and my legal team had fought with them for a number of months and had to reach a settlement that worked. Well it did not work well enough for the short sale sellers.
At the end of the closing, they both walked out and only one said good bye to me and thanked me. It did pain me because I had done my professional best as a North Kingstown short sale agent to make the financial end palatable. It just is that some short sales really break your heart.
Well it has been awhile and I sometimes wonder if one of the sellers had made it alright in their new life. Well I finally did receive a heartwarming message today that she had. She could tell me now how grateful she was for doing my best for them and appreciated it. She knew she could recover (like I told her this too would pass) in her life and move on. I am glad for the note letting me know...because some short sales really do break your heart.
