With each passing I am less and less in tune with the rest of the world!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

With each passing I am less and less in tune with the rest of the world!Perhaps I am just losing my grip. After all, I have been “hanging in” there for quite a long time now.

But with many more years lying behind me than ahead, I can honestly say that I see things a lot differently now than I did in the past.

It takes an awful lot more to pique my interest these days. The effect of “been there” and “done that” has practically removed the element of surprise from my lexicon.

And it appears that although we as a society have easier access to information than any generation in history, we are also more ignorant.

So we each passing day, I find myself drifting farther and farther away from the mainstream of our anthropological evolution.

From here on out, I will forgo trends and choose my own direction.

I may not get where I want to go, but at least it will be my choice!

Richard, what an interesting introspection!!  I am feeling more and more the same way.  Our society has forgotten what once was socially acceptable norms and seems to be lost in misdirection and wallowing in ignorance.  Very sad!!

Hi Richard.  I can say that I couldn't agree more.   I do believe that it gets easier as we get older because we are less likely to be worried about what others think.    I loved reading your post this am.

Good morning Richard -

The feeling and thinking you have described must be in the air.  At our place we both feel bogged down and as said been there done that.  Maybe a real vacation on the beach is called for????  Guess we get up, shake it off and continue on walking our own way.

Good morning Richard,

It is always good to be an individual as that people may look at you and change direction.

Always try to learn something new and teach someone else something new as it broadens everyone's horizons.

Make yourself a great day.

Good morning Richard. Me to. It is interesting that you have elicited a similar reaction in so many of us. Age maybe, wisdom and insight probably.

June...

It is somewhat comforting to know that I am not the only one that is saddened by this. Thanks for the support!

Carol...

That's an excellent point. We really don't care what others think, do we? Thanks so much for "getting it!"

John..

My friend, for some reason I have though that we have been living parallel lives the last few months. It's a bit eerie bu very cool at the same time. THX.

Thanks for giving me something to think about!  I have never been a very "trendy" person and as I've aged I finally discovered that is a good thing...

Richard,

Very introspective post...

I came to the observation earlier this year about myself that at this point in my life, that there are few things worth standing in line for...

Richard, I agree with John as well. Partly it is a stage of life event or period of time I suppose. Many of our age group friend are experiencing this. Children gone. Elderly parents to care for. Lot's of opportunity but no longer a perceived infinite amount of time to do it all.

My wife and I are totally revamping what we want to do and how we go about it. We want to downsize so that we have more free time and get involved in things we've never done before...I am actually pretty intrigued by the prospects.

I like Richards comment, making your own choices ensures you end up where you wanted to go...of course, it may not be pleasant lol :)1  I also agree that as we get older, we tend to care less of what others think and realize that the path to our own happiness is made by us, not by others.  Love your introspection this morning.

Richard- When I hit 40ish (in a galaxy far far away.) , I would say to myself and others that a perk of growing older is that you don't have to worry so much about what others think of you, and that you live your life with your own choices as your road map.  I do know that this year in particular I have been thinking about the fact that the road behind me is much longer than the one ahead.  And I've looked back with some melancholy at the scenery I've passed on my journey to where I am.  As someone said "Youth is wasted on the young."
