2008 Home Decor Color Trends

I have been researching what are the new 2008 home decor color trends, and here are roughly the main groups/themes of colors for 2008:

>>Green/eco-friendly looking colors: As the trend of living green arises, needs for greener materials rise as well. Similarly faux finishes that look like those lifestyle trends become popular as well. The finishes will look hand-made and un-processed (i.e. no dying nor bleaching). Texture is key, especially nature-like textures. In color terms, you are looking at earth tone, as well as colors that are in the blue & green color group as they represent sky/ocean and greeneries.

>>Pantone suggests: “Wellspring: Inspired by the water that literally supports and sustains life.”

>>Cultural influences: As globalization is on the rise, we are more aware of other cultures as well. From my personal observations, zen-style & spa-style lifestyles are (Read more …)

Love the photos and colors. Are you related to Denise Lin?

Very interesting.  Thanks for sharing.  I recently- yesterday- had my house painted but I went for a goldish color.

Roberta Thanks! No, Lin is the 2nd biggest last name among Chinese/Taiwanese people. It's like Smith in English. So not everyone with the last name Lin is related, just like you are not related to Eddie Murphy :)

Dawn That sounds great! Gold is really in right now.

Cheers,

I think we'll definately see eco-friendly colors in 2008, them seemed to start appearing in 2007 and I personally like most of them, so I'm excited.

I've always gravitated toward cool natural greens and rusts. I'm a lover of the out of doors, so I guess it makes sense.

Very pretty photos.  I have always loved greens (and blues) - especially mixed with earth tones!

I just helped a client pick paint colours and tiles. Their home has lots of windows so natural light is every where. we are going with very light butter cream yellows new grass greens and sand that has a touch of peach. All the tiles are stone and sandstone for the kitchen and bathroom counters. Two Realtors overheard us at the paint counter and gave me their cards and took mine and 1 lady looking for paint and tile was coping us as we went down the isle. I'm hoping she does not live in the neighborhood.

I just love greens all shades and tones.  I have so much trouble with blues, though.  The only shade of blue I am really drawn to for an interior is a light icey blue...love it with white, black or brown.  I think a natural shade of green is a better neutral choice, though, for staging.  Yellows are a tough one for me too...

That's an awesome picture you included, btw!  =)

Thanks, Cindy. Love the soothing greens! Thanks for the post- I am going to a seminar on interior color trends tonight.
