Wasp at Mason Neck State Park

Fortunately for me this wasp was to busy gathering nectar to be considered about my presence.  When it comes to wasps I'd rather stay a good distance away or be armed with bug spray.  In this case the telephoto lens gave me enough space to feel comfortable hanging around and watching him work.

Happy Hump Day.

Nice picture, Cindy. I was just telling my son that one got in my office today and I sucked him up in the vacuum.  I'm sure he didn't like that, but he was starting to bug me.  8-)

Hi Cindy, I had forgotten about those black wasps. They are pretty mean if disturbed and they don't give up once they decide someone is a threat to them. Great photo.

I've gotten some nice shots of bumblebees.  Patience is the key.

Kristin-I've been stung by both but the wasps hurt more.

Brenda-one flower had both a wasp and a butterfly on it.  Wondered if the wasp would sting the butterfly but it didn't happen.

Than-me too.  And a can of wasp spray with a long spary as well.

Joni-the wasp was completely occupied by the flower so this time I wasn't worried about him coming for me.

Rob-barns are far less worrisome to take photos of.

Louise-I too have felt the wrath of a yellow wasp in the past.  I've learned to avoid them in close encounters.

Mike-HaHa.  Though I admit to having done the same thing with spiders.

William-there were quite a few of them around these flowers but I felt safe enough at my distance to take photos.

Cindy, I think you're safe.  This fellow looks awfully distrancted by the flower.

I just got a telephoto lens from HDHat to use with my iPad. I have not figured it out, though. Great shot!
