In the last few days you may have noticed fencing around Spokane's Red Wagon sculpture in Riverfront Park. The Red Wagon, known officially as "The Childhood Express," is usually open year round, but this year Park Operations staff will work diligently during the months the attraction is least used to re-deck the wagon bed and provide additional structural reinforcement. The attraction is now fenced off and restricted from use for the duration of the repair process which should be completed in about two months, pending weather. Spokane's "Red Wagon" sculpture was created by Ken Spiering in honor of Washington State's 1989 Centennial. It was presented as a gift from the Junior League of Spokane, many local businesses and the Spokane Arts Commission to the children of Spokane.
