I'm pretty sure that everyone needs some RE.
Whether you have 20 listing or no listings. 1 buyer or 5 Buyers. 1 lead per day or 10 leads per day.
Everyone needs some RE....
Yesterday, was the annual FMLS (First Multiple Listing Service) Showcase Trade Show. An opportunity to check out suppliers to us in the real estate business. First, off, let me tell you another example of how times have changed. I'm going to guess that in 2004 when I got my license (and I still have a cup with the date on it I use daily) there must have been 300 exhibitors at this event. You name it you saw it. Fast forward to yesterday. I think it took me 45 minutes to make the rounds. But I digress....
I did get there on time to see Active Rain's own Ilyce Glink speak to a almost full house audience. And Ilyce gave a very different talk. She talked about some life-changing events that have happened in her life, and how they have carried with her all this time. For a trade show speech...it was some heavy stuff. At least for me.
She had four RE's. I can only Remember 3 of them. (Damn iPhone was NOT cooperating as I tried to take notes!_
RE -Think
RE - Tool
RE -Invent
RE - _____________ Maybe we can all fill in the blank?
Now everyone's different. I'm not much of one for Zodiac signs, except my own....Libra. Scales. Balance. Get where I'm going? So I often find myself needing to RE charge. And part of that RE-charge is to RE-Balance myself. I can get myself out-of-wack faster than a _______________fill in the blank!
Sometimes I have to RE more than once in ONE DAY!!! Yes, I might start the day out great, and then....BAM....something tips the scales. Time to RE....
I think my biggest, and the one I could add to Ilyce's list to fill in the one I'm missing is my RE- START button. But I can't always seem to find it? Duh, you say...the dude does not even know where his OWN RE-START button is? I do. It just gets moved all the time.
I might have just had a call from a stupid agent. (You've had one right?) I may have exchanged some choice words with the man of my life, and need to RE-START from that conversation.
A big one is looking at the list of action items and the To-Do list for my website....oh yeah! That really sends the scales into a yo-yo ride.
But, I need to RE.
I doing a different RE next month. I'm going on a retreat BY MYSELF. Yep. No partner, or nephew. I'm packing my bag, some of those To-Do lists and Action Items, my laptop and my swim trunks and I'm headed to a resort in the mountains of North Carolina.
ME Time for RE Time. The more I think about it, actually the more excited I get. Me, myself and I.
I'm going to RE-set, RE-Charge, RE-Tool, RE-START, I'm going to have me one serious dose of RE!
What's your RE?

Thom, That is a good question, it is way too late for me to think of what I want to RE right now. I am going to think on it, and hopefully sleep on it. Thanks for giving something to think about!
The resort part looks like a great plan that I would like to emulate. . have a great weekend!
Hey, Thom, I hope you enjoy your REcharge. You deserve it. And bully for you getting out there and doing it. It takes a lot of guts.
Change in constant so I'm always thinking about what to "RE". It's the only way to adapt to all the stuff that happens around me every day.
Good for you, Thom. I think I need more RElax. And REcharge would come in very handy as well.
Has anybody said RElax yet? That's what I did yesterday, and it was awesome! Sounds like a fun time Thom. Enjoy it!
Finally "made" myself re straighten my desk again yesterday. I have a mental block about keeping it that way. Of course it doesn't help that half a dozen agents drip things on my desk. With some it's just mail from the mail box, others it's faxes, scans, contracts, bills for REOs and in 10 minutes it can look like clutter again.
Tony I'm sure you will come up with something!
Fernando hoping to enjoy the pool, but also want to have some focus time on outstanding projects with out the noise around.
Jane: Thanks!
Silvia Recreation....now there's an idea!
Bryan Isn't THAT the truth!
Debbie: Hope so!
Jared: Did hit the hot tub last night. Probably been a couple months since I've used it! How relaxing that was.
Tammy Lord, Ia m always organizing to the point, then I'm not sure where things are. Have piles and files for blogging, and files for working on my site. And files for files. Oh, and then there are the client files.
Thom, that sounds like a great plan to get in some RElaxation and REcharge those batteries. Have a great time.
This blog is good ‘food for thought’ ……….. to utilize different ‘RE’s in my life.
RE spond. RE energize.
Hi Thom. Your post certainly sparked REflection.
RE time is certainly a necessity - whatever flavor. I am constantly RE-assessing and RE-directing. Being flexible is a must and the only way I seem to accomplish much of anything.

What a reflective post . . . and that is my RE. Reflection is a constant for me. What do I do well, not so well, what was brilliant, what could I have said/done differently, would it have made a difference? Reflection goes along quite well with the other RE's. Great post Thom.
Lately, for me it has been RE-member. So much going on that I don't always remember what is important. Health is number one, so the other RE's like recharge, relax and reflect - done regularly will prevent reacting reflexively.
Oh, I just thought of another RE . . . sults. I like results too! Your post got me thinking!!
Thom - I like to think that I'm always attempting to make improvements on my business, but due to my previous career, I've learned to be very careful with changes to something that is working well. If I can identify the things that need improvement the most, that's where I start. A good example would be my point2agent site. I had every intention of replacing it with my wordpress site, but after further review, it would have been a bad decision. I like to think outside the box, and I hope that it never changes.
Great post. Really enjoyed it. I think I'll fill in the blank with RE create as in recreate successful transactions. And RE ward my self for giving my business my full attention.
