16 Comments on MULTI-TASKING DID MORE HARM THAN GOOD FOR ME
Good points, Joe! Thanks for sharing.
I have a customer that gets annoyed when I don't answer the phone all the time. He doesn't like voice mail. When with him one day, he noticed my phone indicating an incoming call and asked when I ignored it. I explained that I was with him and giving him my undivided attention. The light bulb went off for him and he realized that when he gets voicemail, it's because I am involved in a live converstation. While I used to explain that to him, it didn't have meaning until he saw that call come in.
I like your other points too! They are spot on.
Have a great day,
Dee
This was great advice that your friend gave you and good for you circling back and thanking him. Way to go - you listened to the feedback and actually took action.!
This is great stuff. We have a Realtor in our community that is (or acts like) she is busy, busy, busy, busy, as that annoying woman on Angie's list commercial likes to say. This Realtor is always "leaving". You get the feeling you must rush through what ever you've got to say because she is "so important" she has other places to go and people to see that are much more important than you. Makes me want to avoid her at all costs. And so guess what? I do.
Oh, such a valuable post...thank you! We all need to be listening to you.
Thanks, Joe, for sharing your story. Your advice should be carefully considered by all of us. Sitting at the computer as I write the comments is not good for my health and I need to modify my behavior.
It is good to be as busy as a bee but we also need to take time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.
Hi Joe. Great blog and so true. Give the person you are with your undivided attention.
Hi Joe, Great lesson and I'm glad you seized my attention with it, too! Thanks for a wonderful post.
Joe, I have learned through the years to concentrate on what I am doing at the moment, but sorry Joe the watch stays on my wrist :} :} :}
Joe, I don't think I could survive without my watch. I guess it is just habit.
I took my watch off three years ago and haven't missed it. I check my phone every once in awhile, my computer and car fill in the gaps.
Hi Joe - what a great story. You got me thinking about the ways that I communicate my hurry to be somewhere else. We're not human DOings, are we? It's certainly time we all learned to just BE.
I'm glad the real Debbie Reynolds shared this fabulous post! I missed it. The fact you had the courage to ask your family, kids, and friends about what happened and called the client back to say thank you! I'm truly impressed. Whenever I have an appointment I turn off my phone going in and leave it off until we're done and part. I know how I like to be treated and I assume anyone I'm in audience with just might feel the same. Thanks for this great reminder!
Great memories this blog. We've all had that person looking around rather than at you during those networking luncheons. And, oh, about watches (which I haven't worn since the iPhone came out), I remember this young businessman who kept looking at his Rolex--had nothing to do with time. I always wanted to ask if he'd bought it from a guy on the street on Fifth Avenue (I was in New York at the time).
Good evening Joe.
It is a great way to learn...
Have a nice weekend.
Good morning Joe,
Great post, multi-tasking takes control to not watch your watch...I only wear one when touring homes with my clients to be sure we stay within our showing timeframes.
Hi Joe - Good for you for taking steps to change for the better. We could all use some self-assessment. And thanks for sharing the tips for a healthier life! Have a great day.
