I am a little sad to see that the days have gotten a bit chillier. This also means summer camping is over soon. Regardless, we will squeeze a few more camp trips out of this year and the trees will change their colors shortly, which is a spectacle in itself. .....but back to Tarryall Creek.
The chill makes it tougher to be in the creek. We also had some wind which can cool you down quite a bit when you are coming out of the water hoping to warm up quickly.
At night, the temperature dipped into the 40's - bring a good sleeping bag to keep you warm.
Well it's sort off our favorite spot. There are so many places to go, but Tarryall has lately really worked out for us - especially guest seem to like it. It's only an hour away, with a creek to play in (and mud as you see in the pics) and simply have fun.
Take Hwy 24 to Woodland Park, Divide and Lake George. Take Tarryall Rd (Rd77) on your right and then keep an eye out for a camping sign on your right, also indicating Co Rd 112. This sign should show up not even a mile away from your turn off HWY24. Enter Co Rd 112, at the fork take a right and pick a spot to put in your tubes anywhere.
Camping?
Yup. If you decide that you'd actually like to stay over night there is a dedicated campground (only about 8 spaces) - without electricity but with water and toilets. The small campground is usually already full by the time we show up but you can plop down in other spaces along the river. I just learned that the camp ground is booked almost 6 months in advance. Make reservations here.
