Frisco ISD school kids head back to school tomorrow (Monday 8/27/2012) after what we (parents) feel like a long but productive Summer. The schools enrolled, the backpack filled, stationaries bought and everyone is excited and ready to go.
As a person, I love NEW BEGINNINGS. I look at it as a chance to "do-overs". I'm a very positive thinking person and I do not drool in pity parties and negative energy that does nothing except to tear me down and make me unproductive.
Over the past year, I've learned that there are lots of people's problems out there. I'm in no way expected to solve the world's problems. And I can only control mine.
I wont let other judgmental spirit affect mine. I have enough of my own to keep me busy. There's no reason to take ownership of other people's problems.
I give myself many chances of DO-OVERS.
Jan 1: It's the natural day. It's a New Year. Everything is fresh and renewed. The old is left behind.
Chinese New Year: Usually Chinese New Year occur in late January or February. Again, it's another opportunity to not beat myself in the back for the things I want happen in January 1st. Now, I have a chance again.
Spring: How could I not feel it's yet another natural new start - with the new blooms of Tulips and Dafoddils. Everything is turning GREEN (life) again. The brown of Winter is just weeks away.
By then, I'm probably very busy selling real estate, well into the Summer months where many families want to move and do their thing before school starts.
New School Year: Yet another DO-OVER. That's where we are at today. In the past, sometimes when I need a Do-Over bad enough, I buy me a new calendar too!
Fall/ 4th Quarter: While others start to wind down for the year (for the real estate business), I take opportunities to drum up business, to look forward and plan for 2013 (hence the Member's Only 4th Quarter Challenge). I dont stop until the clock hits 00:00 at 4th Quarter.
Week after Christmas: Oooo.... after all that food, eating and camaraderie of the Holiday Season, it's time to put your helmet back on. It's a week of mental preparation for me.
On you mark, get set, GO - Do OVER!!!
So, where are you right now? On top of your game? Do you need a do-over?
Remember you can't un-do the things in the past. But your future is ALL in your control. If the past holds you back, don't you think it's time to let go and let live? Sprinters sprint with everything they GOT at the front of the finish line. They don't have time to turn their heads to the back and neither to check on their competition. They only focus on themselves and the finish line.
