Tennessee Team Wins US Little League Championship!
Yesterday, the Goodlettesville TN team (a suburb of Nashville) beat the Petaluma CA and won the US Championship in the Little League World Series. The first such title ever for a Tennessee tea
m.
There are only 6 innings in the Little League games and everyone thought that it was a slam dunk when Tennessee was ahead 15 to 5 in the bottom of the 6th.
The California team was able to score a record 10 runs and tie the game.
Tennessee, not to be beat, scored 9 more runs in the top of the 7th.
California fought a brave fight, but the final score was 24-16. It was incr
edible watching these 11 and 12 year olds playing like adults!
One star in the game was Lorenzo Butler who scored 3 3 run home runs. Yes 9 runs, just Lorenzo.
Today at 2pm Central, Tennessee will play Japan for the World Championship.

Congrats to your local team! Hope they win the finals today!
My husband was watching this on TV-congratulations. That's exciting for the children and the community.
What a thrill for those young men. It will be something they will never forget, never mind learning what it takes to be a successful team
Christine - I'm watching the game now at my open house. It's very exciting around here because of this!
Michelle - It's very exciting. I grew up a Cubs fan so I already like baseball. My husband got me watching these kids and it's been great. Very exciting games!
This will change some of these young men's lives. What they're learning about sportsmanship is priceless!
Hi Gay. Congratualtions!! Not to be pedantic but they are runs or rbi's not points:) Lorenzo scored 9 runs. Just having fun.
And your name is Connie not Gay:( Error on blogger Allen.
OMG Jim, I knew that! LOL
Just Kidding Conrad! I went and fixed it.

Good luck and success.

I am sure that will be one of those memorable moments that will be with them for a lifetime.
Lou - They don't seem to be fairing as well against Japan today. But you know what they say!
Kathy - I just saw on Facebook that Goodlettesville is planning a huge homecoming for them tomorrow. People will line the streets to greet them. Very exciting.
Very nice showing for the TN team. Lorenzo Butler is an awesome player. One of the umpires went to high school with me. His wife kept eveeryone updated on Facebook with what time he was umpiring, etc. It was interesting to watch the games. Such good sportsmanship and talent.
Watched yesterdays game and oh boy was it a nail bitter and then today was such a disappointment. They played hard, but with their best pitchers being used up yesterday, they didn't stand much of a chance against Japan.
Heard about this game tonight. 24-16 is a lot of runs in one game. Congrats and good luck to Tennessee.
JoAnn - It was fun, wasn't it?
Todd - That Japanese pitcher was incredible. I'm not sure they stood much of a chance against him.
Tom - That was Saturday's game. It was great. They're still the US Champions, just not the world champs!
Too funny, Jim
It was fun to see, and somewhat surprising at the size of players from Japan. They had a lot of fun.
Did you see the game? So exciting. This is great news for Tennessee. Now on to the World Series.
Conrad - :)
Larry - I don't normally watch this type of thing, but I really enjoyed it. That pitcher was scary huge!
Tammie - I saw most of it Saturday and almost all on Sunday at my open house.
