This is so true. People in distress especially need the truth and someone to help them rationally explore their real (not dreamland) options to make good choices.
In Become the Answer Lou notes that consumers want their needs met, and want answers (real answers). I tell people all the time that I will tell them the truth even if they don't want to hear it, so they know they can trust me.
I can happily sell a home anytime, I just want to make sure it's the right time for the clients.

Become the answer
Consumers want their needs met and they want answers.
They don’t stories or a run around . . . . They want answers and they are looking for a professional who will give them those answers.
Real estate is a relationship business and consumers are looking for the professionals that not only will help them fulfill their needs they want a professional that they can rely on and trust.
The consumer may not always express this to you directly and they may not tell you when things get off track. But when things get off track and you don’t have the answers the consumer will just move on and seek out the professional that fulfills their needs and have the answers.
Become the answer for you customers, be willing to go the extra mile for them and provide them with exceptional customer service that will knock their socks off.
Understand your customers and their needs, and be willing to step in and fill the void and have your customers see you as a person that can be counted on and you will become the answer for your customers.
