This  Copake NY barn was so close to the road, so I had to wonder which came first, The barn or road?  In the rural area of NY you never know what you will run into.  This barn along with the interesting cloud cover was just one of the scenes I encountered during my short adventure on Saturday.

I can really understand why many choose to get a second home in this area, yes you can really connect with nature.  Just the right setting to disconnect from all the tech gadgets so you can truly relax.

Barn

So what do you think?  Barn or Road?

Hi Jennifer,

I saw road though it didn't look like this obviously when that barn went in!

jennifer,

The pictures you have of the Hudson Valley on your profile are really beautiful.  Looks like wonderful place to live.
BTW - I bet the barn was there 1st - but the road was probably at lot more narrow than it is now and probably was an old dirt country road.

That road would have been small and a dirt road way back when.. The barn was close to the road so that they did not have to go far to bring a carriage there. Beautiful photo Jennifer.

Jennifer, I'd bet the barn was there long before the road!  Maybe there was a horsepath going by.

Jennifer, great picture, I have always loved barns. I think the road was first although it was probably a dirt road originally. Looks like there are other buildings maybe even a house. It would have been easier to get to town living close to the road.

Jennifer,

Great shot and question. Love the sky too. Imagine the road wasn't as wide when it was built. :)

Jennifer, beautiful photo and I say the barn first too, then civilization came with the road!

Hi Jennifer, long time ago the building and zoning department was not so strict with regulations. The barn may be built without the current set back requirement before the new road was in place.

I voting for the barn too.  Dirt road was probably close but not that close.
