Life without a dog – How sad.

Life without a dog – How sad.

He chews my shoes, tears stuffing out of stuffed toys, swallows legos costing me hundreds of dollars in vet bills, demands walks when I want to rest, barks at bicycles, deliberately flips his water dish over, rolls on the just fluffed feather bed, snatches any unattended food from the table and generally makes me nuts.

AND...

He takes me walking every morning and every evening, supporting my weight management efforts.  He gazes adoringly into my eyes when I’m angry, a clear apology without words.  He curls up in my lap when I sit to read or watch TV, helping keep me warm and grounded.  He rolls over on his back to get his tummy rubbed, sits patiently for his shower and then entertains me as he runs as fast as he can all over the house to dry himself off.  He loves me unconditionally.

I cannot imagine life without Kirby.

two years ago my dog Fred passed away. He was an adopted mutt...and the best dog ever. I want a new dog but I am still not ready...I can never replace FRED.

Kirby looks like a real sweetheart Marian. Dogs really ask for so little and always give us their everything. It's hard to get mad at them when they make a little mistake, they are so loving.

Marian, I am right there with you.  Kirby looks like an armful of love. Dogs are the great comforters, are they not?  I have never, not had a dog, and I can't even begin to imagine going through life without my wonderful soulmates.  Being into doggie rescue, I've had more than my share of dogs, but through the years there have been four who were sent just for me.  Sienna,(the office manager) has graciously come to be my last one. I love her with all my heart.

Dear Jeffrey,  You're so right.  You'll never replace Fred but there are so many other dogs looking for someone to love them too.  I hope you'll adopt one soon.

I lost Casey and Katie within six months of each other and my heart was so empty.  Then we found Kirby and he has filled the hole.  I will never forget Casey and Katie and in fact, we tell Kirby about them often.  But what a joy is Kirby.  Go get yourself another dog!  I insist!

Richie,  Woman's best friend - Yes!  On the rare occasion that my husband and I argue, I always have the fleeting thougth that I could never leave because we'd never agree on Kirby's custody.

Malcolm, Kirby is a rare long haired Jack Russell Terrier.  In addition to being the cutest dog I've ever owned, he's so smart it's scarey.  He manipulates me for sure.

Marian, We only had a period of about one year between dogs.  It took a bit after our last Sheltie went over the rainbow, but our Chihuahua found us and she's a blast to have around :)

My mother-in-laws Chihuahua spends her weekends at my house and I always hate to see her leave. She rubs my face in the morning with her cheek. Dogs are so wonderful, I understand this post completely.

Well, I think you know how I feel about my dog (the little runaway), and Kirby too :-)  I don't know what I would do without my furry family, and the unconditional love they provide!  They are my best friends!

I soooo agree. I can't imagine life without a dog, either and have had at least one my whole life. We have four rescued pups now and they add so much to our family's life.

Marian,  Kirby is adorable and I can certainly relate!  I'm glad he was ok after the Lego incident.  That's one I haven't heard before.   I can't imagine life without dogs either.  They run our household and that's fine by us.  I have a feeling you understand that way of thinking.
