Small costs can add up.
For example, when renovating your home, a quick paint touch-up or new curtains may not seem like much money, but as the projects start piling up, you could be spending thousands of dollars.
You can find ways to save on seemingly cheap expenses that, in the long run, will amount to a large chunk of change. Eating out for lunch every day, for example, adds up extremely quickly, so packing your lunch is a great way to lower your food budget.
Here are 3 ways you can keep lunch costs low:
1. Ditch the deli: Instead of buying expensive deli meat, purchase chicken breasts on sale and cook them yourself. You can slice the meat for sandwiches or shred it for chicken salad.
2. Switch the starch: Buy sandwich materials when they are on sale. Instead of sticking to bread, mix it up and buy tortillas, pitas or sandwich thins, depending on which is cheapest.
3. Leverage your leftovers: Save yourself money and prep time by reusing last night’s dinner for your kid’s lunch.
