Jason Garrett to stay in Dallas!!

The Dallas media is reporting that Jason Garrett is staying in Dallas as the offensive coordinator after interviewing with the Falcons and Ravens.  The Ravens reportedly offered him the head coaching job.

As a Cowboy fan, I think this is great but I'm surprised.  Doesn't Garrett want to become a head coach?  And is Jerry Jones, really going to pay him over $3 million just to be the offensive coordinator?  Jerry has lead Garrett to believe that if he stays in Dallas, he will be the next head coach.  But when will this be?  Right now, Jones is sticking with Wade Phillips.  Phillips signed a 3 year deal with the Cowboys in 2007.

I thought he was offered both the Baltimore and Atlanta jobs?? Remember, Garrett was brought in before Wade....many speculated he'd be the head coach if they couldn't find the more suitable head man....that job is his in 2009 if they don't win it all next year.

Good move on his part. a) He's making the SAME money b) He's got an "easier" job; only overseeing the offense c) The Dallas head job is more desirable than the other two

Jim - I know Jason flew to Atlanta yesterday but I never heard if he was officially offered that head coaching job ( I was in an all day conference yesterday so I'm a little out of the loop on that job).

Jason has scheduled a news conference for 2pm(Central) today to explain his decision.

Jason Garrett has been named the Asst. Head Coach and is still Offensive Coordinator.  He makes $3 million a year while Wade makes about $3.25 million.  That should make for an interesting dynamic!

Doesn't Garrett want to become a head coach? He still does and will, right now he is getting paid like one.
