Jerry Conway at Office Max in Johnson City made my recent purchase a comfortable and pleasant process. There’s nothing I dread more than having to buy new office equipment . Too many choices, too little confidence in my ability to choose the best for my needs.
After looking at a number of stores and feeling less and less confident and more stressed, I went to Office Max and luckily was able to put my need in the capable hands of Jerry Conway. He listened, was patient, and knew the products thoroughly. I felt “counseled” rather than “sold” and I bought with confidence.
He solved a problem after the purchase also, and when I mentioned today that a new laptop would be my next purchase, he introduced me to Ed McDonald, who Jerry said was really good with matching customer needs to products in that area. I haven’t bought it yet, but after I’d talked with him briefly, Ed also impressed me.
Sometimes people back off from real estate agents because they’re afraid they will be pressured into making a decision. I’d never want my clients to feel that way.
My job is to explore needs, show options, and help my clients make the decision that is best for them and if there’s anything they need afterward, to be there for that, too.
These guys treated me that way at Office Max and I appreciate it. I didn’t feel “sold” – I felt “helped.” There’s a world of difference, and the right attitude does have a positive influence on sales, without that being the obvious goal to the buyer. Tell Jerry or Ed that Mary Sheridan sent you.
