White Sulphur Springs is a small southern town located in the southeastern region known as the New River/Greenbrier Valley.  Like most of West Virginia, the region is mountainous, with rivers and streams that together embrace towns nestled in the valleys that have witnessed history from the earliest days of the American frontier.  As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,444.

(An emergency shelter for Congress during the Cold War era.)    White Sulphur Springs is also home of the Greenbrier Sporting Club, and home of the soon to be Greenbrier Medical Institute.

White Sulphur Springs is within an easy day’s drive from one third of the U.S. population and has a steady flow of weekenders from several nearby metropolitan areas Amtrak Station at White Sulphur Springs, WVand surrounding states, including the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C.  The town also has the White Sulphur Springs Amtrak Station that has its own Christmas gift shop. The station's peppermint-striped paint job makes it unique among other Amtrak stations. 

 



 


White Sulphur Springs annual events you don’t want to miss

  • West Virginia Dandelion Festival, A celebration held Memorial Day each year in appreciation of the determined WV Dandelion. The dandelion is celebrated because it is determined like our people and brings out the child in us.
  • For a fun and historic experience, there is the annual Battle of Dry Creek Reenactment.  August 2013 will be the 150th Anniversary Reenactment. 
  • The Freshwater Folk Festival is hosted by the Friends of the White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery and falls on the first Saturday of October every year.


Besides the golfing and annual events, many recreation opportunities abound for hiking, backpacking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, white water rafting, kayaking, and snow skiing.  Check out the state parks near White Sulphur Springs, WV
