Space Coast Restaurant Review: Latorra's Bagels and Italian deli

As someone who grew up in New York and spent much of my youth eating Deli and Pizza, I am always on the lookout for any restaurant that claims to have NY Bagels, NY Pizza, NY Deli, NY Italian food, etc...

It seems that claiming you have food from New York will guarantee you at least a few potential clients. The problem with this strategy is that if you make the claim and do not live up to the hype (keep in mind we have quite a few New Yorkers here in Central Florida) word will spread and you will likely be out of business as quickly as you came in.

Latorra's Bagels and Italian Deli in Satellite Beach lives up to some of the NY promises...and misses the mark on others. First, the good part. The bagels are the nice dense sort of NYC bagel you will not often find here. You can even call ahead with an order for a large amount or something a little out of the ordinary (for the Space Coast) like bialys (my favorite).  They also carry a nice assortment of Italian pastries like Rum Cake, NY Style Cheesecake, Tiramisu, and more. The Cannoli's are quite good as well. They also offer Pizza Dough that you can buy and pick up...so you can make a pizza at home. At only $2.49 this is a great deal.

The down side is they have little display space, they do not offer some staples of good Italian style deli counters...like Eggplant hero's, Veal and Chicken Parmesan.

The food that I have had has been good (pastrami is a little bit too salty) and tasty. The place has the feel of a little New York joint that will rarely disappoint. If you are in the area and are looking for a quick bite....Latorra's is certainly a good choice.
