School is now open in Prince William County and the rest of the country. You would think all drivers would realize and respect the purpose of school speed signs and school bus lights is to protect our children.
My husband and I live very close to three schools in Lake Ridge. They are all within eyesight of each other on two intersecting streets.
There are more school speed limit signs with fashing lights than you can imagine. It never fails that some drivers (not necessarily teens) think they are a call to speed.

Quite frequently, offenders will be young mothers with small children in car seats. You have to wonder what their attitude will be about an offender when their child is in school.
The same is true of school buses. Their amber lights flash before they come to a full stop and turn red. It is not at all unusual to see drivers try to get by before they turn red. Too many times they do not make it.
