Could I have or should I have?

A couple weeks ago I was driving by my deceased Mothers home that I grew up in and noticed it was forn sale. It turned out to be up for about half what I sold it for in 1998. Should I have bought it for a rental or would it just be too weird? As it turned out it was already "pending" on the MLS just not on the sign. It was the home I grew up in.

When my Grandfather died I was offered a retired 135 acre farm for 80k and a few years later when Grandma had to foreclose on it I was offered it again at 60k. I passed both times as I was in my 20,s and could care less. I would have lived in the house and leased out the ground. Bearing in mind that I was living in the largest town in the state and money grew on tree's I could have done it. We both had jobs (no kids then) that there was work everywhere. I have often wondered if I made a mistake and where would life have taken me? Maybe it would not have been the thing to do.

Have you ever been here in your life?

Hindsight is always 20/20 Rob.............we all have those "woulda/coulda/shoulda" things in our lives but I think we are where we are and did what we did for a reason and shouldn't look back.  Just my thought.

In mid-life, we all wonder about the road not taken. It's perfectly natural.

Hi Rob, You hesitated in the past when you had this opportunity for some reason. You probably listened to your gut then. Our decisions bring where we are today and help form us. I'm thinking that you are in a good place whether you purchased your childhood home or not. Now, I would love to knock on the door of the home I grew up in and just ask if I could take a walk through to see how my memory is compared to the reality.

I actually just closed on my childhood home a couple months ago. I wanted my kids to experience the great area that I grew up in.

Life is made up of roads not taken. Don't think about the road you could have taken, think about how well the one you did take worked out!

My grandmother died many years ago, but for as long as I can remember she spoke of her biggest regret.  When her husband died from an accident at work, when she was very young and had two toddlers, she was offered a lump sum of money or a house.  She took the money and blew through it rather fast.  She spent the rest of her life wishing she had taken the house.  How sad.  I learned a lesson from her mistake....the lesson being we just can't waste time on regrets.  It's eats you up like cancer.  You did what you did, and you can't change it.
