Motivational Power Quote

Age is Not a Factor III

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty

or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.

The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”

Henry Ford, American Industrialist and founder of the

Ford Motor Company

As I see it . . . . . . .

Age is not a factor III

I first met Joe and his wife Susan when he was in his mid 80’s.

We had just moved to Medford Lakes in New Jersey with our young children and one of the first families that we met was Joe and Susan.

Their home had a large sun porch that faced a playground and baseball field.  Our home was just a couple of homes away from Joe’s home and on the same side of the street (trail as they would say in Medford Lakes).

The reason that we moved to Medford Lakes was the amenities it offered and one of them was the beach that was about a block from our home new home.

Joe was a businessman and an entrepreneur and most recently owned a large farm. His wife Susan was a nurse and now volunteered her time local hospital.

Joe’s sun porch was set up as an office and 5 days a week. He was at his desk by 8:00 AM in the morning wearing either a suit or a sport coat with his trademark of a fresh flower in his lapel. He went into his home at noon for lunch and was back at his desk by 1:00 PM and worked until 5:00 PM.

Joe traded stocks with the help of a ticker tape and did his business from his office on his sun porch.

When Joe saw our family coming down the trail on the way to the beach Joe made it a point to come out and greet the family. The kids loved to see Joe because he fussed over them and made them feel important.

Joe was a very successful business person and financially set for life. He didn’t have to work and in speaking with Joe I found out that he enjoyed what he was doing and didn’t consider it a job or work. What he was doing give him a purpose and a reason to get out of bed in the morning and to enjoy life.

He kept his mind sharp followed the stock market and current business trends. He remained a successful business person well into his 90’s.

Age is not a factor . . . . What is a factor is the way you approach life at any age. When you enjoy what you’re doing and you engage it you will enjoy your life and you will keep yourself young in your heart and in your spirit.

Age is not factor . . . . Success can be and maintained at any age.

Wbat a wonderful story, Lou, and one I've heard before.  Working keeps the mind young.  Sitting around makes you old fast.  I've seen it happen.  I plan on working until I no longer can because I love what I do.
