Do you have a Domestic Partnership in Seattle? If you do there is a way for you to take title. There is a piece of legislation called the Domestic Partnership Expansion Act that does not have all the same rights of marriage but does give property right to domestic partners. Have a question please click here.

The majority of rules and regulations that address the rights of married persons in regard to real property have been adjusted to include REGISTERED domestic partners. The key point is registered domestic partnerships. Just like marriage you need to declare your partnership and complete the property paperwork.

Some of the right include Community Property, inheritance, and homestead rights.

Since we are dealing with relationships between humans, we need a procedure for ending the relationship. The legislation does provide a procedure for dissolution in superior court.

This post concluded our series on the different methods for taking title to real property.
