Did you know that the first Labor Day was held celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882 and was started by the Central Labor Union in New York City. In 1884, it was moved to the first Monday in September where it is celebrated today. Labor Day quickly became popular and one state after another voted it as a holiday. On June 28, 1894, the U.S. congress voted it a national holiday.
HAPPY LABOR DAY! Did you know. . .
Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. So this marks the end of the season. Many people celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the date that many people close up the pool, and put away the boats.

What do you like to do celebrate Labor Day?  Just relax and enjoy a day to sleep in? Or like many of the people in my office, have a day to catch up on house or lawn work?  However you choose to spend your day - ENJOY IT!  HAPPY LABOR DAY (WEEKEND)!

I have fond memories of the newness that Labor Day brings. It has always signified the start of the new school year, the end of summer and beginning of fall & pumpkins and apple picking. This weekend, I have appointments to show homes and a wedding to attend. Thanks for the post!

Hi Joy -- thanks for the history of Labor Day.  As for me, yesterday was a combination of errands and meeting with one client plus some ActiveRain time.  Today, two clients and tomorrow is still open.  I'm open for business.....hope you are having a great weekend.

I didn't work much yesterday. . . it was so nice! :)   We took my granddaughter boating.  It was a great end of summer thing for us to do.   I am working today and tomorrow though - and of course I am always open for business too!  Thanks for keeping up with me!! :)
