17 Comments on WHY I GAVE AWAY A LISTING
Paula, it's hard to do this, but so often it's really the best thing. I still get referrals from a couple whose listing I referred to a colleague who did, in fact, finally get it sold - which was really all they wanted.
When it comes to exhausting all your venues for revenue. . .this is a good plan. .smart!
Give yourself a high five, I think we sometimes forget it is not about us, it is about the client and their needs come first.
Thanks Pat and Fernando. It was a good decision. Everyone is happy and that is what counts.
Right on Liz. It really isn't about us at all. We all need to remember this. So important.
Hi Paula, I know this was a very hard decision, but sometimes a New Fresh start with some different eyes is Best. Keeping the client's interest First is always at the top of the list, and I believe you did exactly that.
This is how we all know that you are the REAL DEAL and a CLASS ACT.
Good advice for many listing agents that have failed to obtain a sale.
The clients will be better served with a fresh approach.
Hi Paula -
Tuesday I passed on a listing. It would have been a great one to have but no thanks. At this time (don't want to get myself worked up before dinner) I'll leave it that for now. Sometimes it's best to pass up a listing.
Paula, I had the same situation when we were selling our house 6 years ago. I have to tell you that this is not about you. It is about the seller and his ability to finally listen to the expert's advice. Maybe a new agent will put the same massage you were delivering in different words that will finally make that seller understand the priorities. You've handled this situation very professionally.
Paula, I hate it when a listing expires, but occasionally it happens. Sometimes the home just doesn't sell, in spite of your best marketing efforts. Giving it to another agent is a good idea, especially if you can get a referral fee from it.
Morning Paula I've fired a couple of clients but haven't given away a listing yet. Doesn't mean it won't happen tomorrow or today
That just shows you have the best interest of the client at heart. I gave up a listing about a month ago and the woman was shocked, but her situation was far beyond my help so I made a referral to a co-worker who is a foreclosure expert. I wish all agents would work in the best interest of their clients.
I love that you are the one suggesting this to your client. Sometimes a fresh approach is the best.
sometimes you make more on the listings you walk away from. How does that work when you refer to a broker another in your area? Our brokers don't allow us to do that :(
Hi Paula, I love your thinking and your genuine concern for your clients. Good for you! Sometimes, that is the best thing we can do. Pays off in the long run for everyone.
This is one of the best posts I have read lately. And, I was surprised not to find it featured. Good for you, Paula. Sometimes the kindes thing we can do for a client is kiss them goodbye.
