Jersey Shore residents and visitors have a unique opportunity tonight at the Barnegat Lighthouse.

The Barnegat Lighthouse Park usually closes at 4:30pm, but tonight Park staff and members of the Friends of the Barnegat Lighthouse will open the Park from 7pm until 9pm.

For those willing to climb the 217 step to the top of the Lighthouse, today's clear skies promise great views of the sunset and the rising of the blue moon over the Atlantic!

Admission is free, but donations to the Friends of the Barnegat Lighthouse will be accepted.

Hi Laura, This sounds like a really fun event and good exercise too. I wish I was nearby as I would love to do this. Lighthouses really decorate the scenery.
