When Realtors Attack...
There's Mr. Angry Agent, Mr. Angry Lawyer, and on it goes! There's a time and place for everything...even anger, but if you find yourself listening to someone's diatribe and you know you don't deserve it....nail them to the wall. If you deserve it, consider that maybe they were sent by the universe to teach you something. Sometimes that "something" is patience...sometimes it's self-defence!
I'll never forget the phone call I received from Mr. Angry Agent. There was a miscommunication about a showing on one of his listings, and he wasn't happy. Not at all.
I answered the phone and he started SCREAMING at me with a lot of profanity thrown in there as well.
I hung up on him.
He called me back screaming again, but this time he asked me if I hung up on him. I calmly said yes, and that if was ready to talk to me in a civil tone, I would talk.
More screaming. More profanity. I hung up again.
It was almost comical.
The third time he called me he was calm, and we talked about the situation, and got on the same page. Sometimes the real estate profession can be tough and often times it's stressful. That said, you have to keep your cool out there. What does screaming and yelling prove?
Was this guy trying to intimidate me? Maybe. But it didn't work. All he did was make himself look like a fool.
What have you done in this situation? Hang up? Yell back? Laugh? Be careful out there. Sometimes Realtors do attack! :)
