What is the best Asheville neighborhood?

Real Estate Agent with Asheville Holistic Realty at Keller Williams

As one of Asheville's top agents, I hear this a lot from my buyers: "Where is the best neighborhood in Asheville?"

It's a hard question to answer since Asheville has SO MANY different areas to choose from and each area has it's own attractions.

Of course, it also depends on what is important to you.

Perhaps you're a retiree and are looking for easy one level living, perhaps a condo or townhome. If that is the case then the best neighborhood in Asheville for you might be South Asheville.

With many established planned developments, South Asheville is a very popular destination. Biltmore Park, also in South Asheville, offers  a walkable lifestyle with gorgeous town homes, a variety of resturants, theatre and shopping and a lively "town square" atmosphere.

Biltmore Park is very popular with those downsizing and also young professionals who value the convenience of being near (but not too near) the Asheville Regional Airport.

South Asheville is also very convenient to Asheville's award winning Mission Hospital.

For those who desire everything, all the time, the best neighborhood in Asheville is undoubtably the city's thriving downtown area. Downtown Asheville  and the Historic Montford district is hip, happening and HOT. The prices of downtown Asheville condominiums reflect the desirability of the location. However, if you want to walk out your door to some of the best dining, music , nightlife and theatre the southeast has to offer, then downtown is the best neighborhood in Asheville for you.

School districts are very important when researching a home. If you have (or are planning to have) school age children,  a home in the best Asheville school district may be what you want.

For the academically minded, the best neighborhood in Asheville will be one in one of our top performing school districts.

West Asheville is high on the list for best neighborhood in Asheville for the "hipster set".

West Asheville offers easy walkability, many great bars, resturants and coffee shops, more than a few funky thrift stores and a very relaxed vibe. It's also where we fill up on locally produced Biodiesel!

East Asheville residents love the proximity to the Asheville Mall and Tunnel Road shopping areas. East Asheville is also home to the Asheville Municiple Golf Course, one of the oldest courses in North Carolina.  Just a short hop to both downtown and the neighboring town of Black Mountain, If you love golf and shopping, East Asheville might be the best neighborhood in Asheville for you.

Many would say that North Asheville is the best neighborhood in Asheville. Home to the stunning and historic Grove Park Inn and still convenient to everthing. North Asheville has many historic homes and beautiful, tucked away neighborhoods just waiting to be discovered.

I hope this helps you get a better understanding of the best neighborhoods in Asheville. There are SO MANY great neighborhoods in Asheville and we would LOVE to talk to you about your specific needs.
