WHEN YOU NEED HELP...REACH OUT TO YOUR ACTIVE RAIN FRIENDS. That was the first thought I had when I ran into a problem Saturday evening. The round-trip transportation I was counting on so I could attend the Democratic National Convention on Thursday wasn't going to happen. Big disappointment. 

Now I don't mind driving to Charlotte, N.C. from Lake Anna, Virginia but where was I going to find a place to stay that was within a reasonable (no more than an hour or so away from the Bank of America Stadium). That was going to be the big, big challenge. It was. So what to do?

That's when I thought of Active Rain. Yes, the thought came to me pretty quickly. I immediately thought of a couple of members that work the Charlotte market and went to that page on AR.  Sure enough there, big as life was Debe Maxwell, who I had thought of but than I discovered that Jason Sardi had moved there. As much due to curiosity (I'm always that) as anything else I thought I'd contact Jason. I sent him an email asked if they might know of anyone that might be willing to rent a room to a couple of women for two nights. Almost instantaneously I received a message back from Jason and, shortly after, a couple of messages from Jennifer*.  

Yes, they wanted to help me.

Long story short...a friend of mine, that will be traveling to the convention with me, was able to find a room for us at a Comfort Inn nine miles from the Stadium so we quickly booked that. We will hit the road Wednesday and return home on Friday. Just in time for me to drive to Charlottesville for my granddaughter's field hocky game. I may be a political junkie but I'm also a grandma.

The purpose of this post is to let our newer members know how big a part Active Rain can play in your life. It is more than writing posts to generate business. It is a source of friendships that you establish with wonderful people all over the country...and abroad. It's a wonderful feeling to think that others, many that you've never spoken to or set eyes on, care about you too.  Yes, they not only care about me, I care about them.  Very much!  You will find many that you are drawn to and that will be drawn to you. Savor those relationships.

 

*Jennifer is with Debe at Savvy Real Estate (another friendship developed through Active Rain). Perhaps many of you knew this but I just found out.  Shame on me...I've been away from Active Rain too much.  Now I'm back!

Hi Wonderful Jennifer...I want to see you too!  We may be able to make it happen but I know it's short notice.  We'll be staying at the Comfort Inn in Matthew.  I'll try calling on my way down Wednesday to see if you have any time that afternoon/evening.  Not even sure yet what time we'll be leaving here.

You and Jason are quite the example of Active Rain's power to bring people together.  That made lots of us happy for the both of you.
