New Property Tax Rates Effective July 1, 2012

Alexandria VA Homes for Sale - When you're looking at Alexandria VA homes for sale and budgeting for your housing expenses, it's important to note the real estate property taxes.  Even if you have a fixed rate mortgage on your home, your mortgage payment can either go up or down if the real estate taxes fluctuate.

For City of Alexandria VA residents, the tax rate will be $0.998 for the fiscal year 2012-2013.  The tax rates are per $100 of the assessed value.  So, for example, if the tax assessed value of your home is $400,000, then your yearly taxes will be $3992.  When you divide this number by 12, your monthly taxes will be $332.67.

For Fairfax County, Alexandria area homeowners will be taxed at a rate of $1.075.

When are my Alexandria VA property taxes due?  In the City of Alexandria, real estate property taxes are due twice a year, on June 15, and on November 15.  For Fairfax County, property taxes are due July 28 and December 5.
