Do Back Links from Social Media Impact My SEO?

How social links have an impact on your overall SEO

As we talk about back links and how to gain them from high-quality sites or from blog comments and guest blogging, we can't leave out the very important social media back links. Although most of these back links, meaning a link from a post that you put on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or Google social media seo back linksPlus, are no follow back links, the way Google changes their algorithms, these may not always be no follow tags. Just because one area is not being utilized as much as another doesn't mean that next week it won't be as important. We need to spread our Internet presence across all social media and across the board regardless of the no follow tag or a do follow tags.

While we are always trying to get high quality back links from .gov and .edu sites and they are still your top page rankings sites you want to back link from, you should not only go for them and disregard all of the lower quality sites and social media links.

Social media has a variety of different effects; not only with the search engines but of course with our readers as well. We have to capture them with whatever we are talking about so that they click on the link, go to our website, read the material, and ultimately contact us. If only a search engine is finding us and not our potential clients, our conversion rate is extremely low or nonexistent.

So does this mean that you have to sit in front of a computer for five hours every day posting everything to allthe different social medias, finding do follow comments blogs, and getting other people to write on your website as you write on theirs putting a link into your content? Well, maybe not five hours, but if you can set aside 30 minutes a day to do one or two of these items you will be far more ahead of the game than your competition.

What you need to do is find an easier way to conduct this type of marketing. Using an online organizer such asHootsuite.com can help you post once and automate that post to twitter, your Facebook, either personal or business page, your Google business page, and LinkedIn (as well as a free WordPress site, foursquare, MySpace (is that still around?) and mixi.)

social media and SEOYou can use a free Hootsuite.com account up to five social medias which is typically about all anyone can handle. You simply post once make sure you add in a link to your website, the blog post, a specific page on your website, etc. and add a catchy title or phrase that's going to want to make people click on the link. Do that once a day and not only are you getting your information out there but you're not spamming people across the board either. You can certainly post anywhere from 1 to 4 times a day reasonably. Some social media blogging says that 10 to 30 times a day is appropriate or adequate but I find that when I see the same person over and over and over bugging me about the same thing I tend to want to hide a lot of their posts. As long as you keep yourself in the back of everyone's mind as to what you do, who you are, why you do it and how you can help them, they know who to turn to when the need arises. You are consistently and constantly keeping yourself in front of them as well as building a great base of social media back links.

Don't disregard social media back links just yet. They may come in handier in the future as Google is constantly changing their algorithms and the way they rank sites.

Hi Tammy, good information, as always. I will try hootsuite again. All your link icons are cute. The reddit one didn't work.

Great tips.  Too many people get overwhelmed with the "starting" and then don't follow through with anything.  People would be amazed if they just started blogging what will happen.  Add to that the mixing in of multiple social media outlets and voila, they'll have some great SEO driving to their sites.

Guess I should go back to hootsuite and see if I can figure out how to run it. I love how you say it's "easy" - easy for you because you speak the language. Not easy for me because I don't!

Dana, This will help with juice and time. It's a great resource to really get your links out there.

Hella, Take the time to experiment and learn Hootsuite. It will be a great time saver!

Andrew, Exactly! It can be difficult to start something new but like anything, we learn.

Jan, HA!! You're awesome. thanks for hoggin! :)

Tom, yes, that's great! Link back to them, tweet them, post them etc.. all great SEO

Nan, AMEN to that!

Joe, good deal. play with it and experiment and throw a few test posts out there till you get the hang of it.

Marte, HA, I know.. but play with it a bit. I have just taught several folks this week about it. Check out Debbie Gartners hootsuite post (search on AR for Hootsuite) and she does a great job.

Dorte, you can do it! Just jump in a play...the easiest way to figure it out.

Rob, keep them flowing. It will pay off.

Jon, HA.. you can.. you just sign up, make sure you are logged into all your social media in other tabs and click connect when you add a new media to hootsuite. It will do the rest. Really worth it and play with it till you get it. :) Come on

Tammy,

Another Brilliant post.  However, tonight is the NFL opener.  I will not get sucked down your rabbit hole of links that would keep me reading all night.  I will have to book mark and come back.

another great blog about SEO.  I haven't set up hootsuite yet, but I may soon.  I usually only post blogs to Facebook and sometimes Twitter so I haven't felt the need for Hootsuite.
