Hot Air Balloons Over New Mexico Tuesday, January 15 at the opening of the New Mexico 30-day legislative session at the state capitol in Santa Fe, Governor Bill Richardson announced, the end of his presidential quest and turned his focus fully on the business of New Mexico.

Since then we have had three significant announcements about infusion of money and jobs into the New Mexico economy. The German firm, Schott AG, announced its intention to build and open a solar equipment manufacturing plant at

Mesa del sol: (Good Economic News For Albuquerque New Mexico )
in 2009; Eclipse Aviation got a boost with a new partnership, and the latest announcement Wednesday, that the International firm, Fidelity Investments, will also open an office at Mesa del Sol 2009, creating 1, 200 high-paying jobs.

Today, while the national evening news highlighted rumors of recession, the localnews was all about new business opportunities and new jobs in New Mexico.  News of the economy is somewhat like that of real estate. New Mexico real estate, while  broadly reflecting the national trend, has to be more narrowly defined. It  is ultimately local, reflecting the local economy and job market.

Eloise, That is absolutely wonderful news for your area!  Bringing new business, new faces and surely new work and sales.  I'm very happy for you.

Eloise you are absolutely right, it does not matter what other parts of the country are doing, what matters is what our part of the country is doing.  Yes some national trends will sooner or later affect our local markets, but the reverse is also true, our local market could be what might kick start things nationally.

Carole-  Governor Bill Richardson spoke at a luncheon of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce since then and promised more. We are all hopeful.

George-I like your very positive spin. We don't hava a crystal ball but we can see the glass as half-full rather than half-empty.
