Ability is the Key - Power Quotes Series - 1/18/08

As you can see, I have changed the way that I present the title. Each day I am going to focus on one area and pull quotes about that area. Going forward, all of these will be tagged POWER QUOTE SERIES and at the end of each month I will run a recap of all the ones for the month. Today, I choose ABILITY.

In today's world, some people want to get something for nothing. Instead of allowing for their abilities to take them to the promise land, they hope the promise land will come to them. Ronald Osborn's quote is a great way to start today off.

"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow."
Ronald E. Osborn

"Our work is the presentation of our capabilities."
Goethe

"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm"
Winston Churchill

"Ability will never catch up with the demand for it."
Malcolm S. Forbes

"During my eighty-seven years I have witnessed a whole succession of technological revolutions. But none of them has done away with the need for character in the individual or the ability to think."
Bernard Mannes Baruch

Ability is something we all have. We just have to decide to use it.

DANNY - These are some great quotes.  I notice that I am always inspired by Churchill quotes.  I really like the one by Baruch also.  Thanks for providing your regular dose of inspiration.

Danny,

I'm particularly fond of this one...

"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow."

as it relates to my kids.  My daughters teachers are very challenging.  They often give homework that is not easy and make my kids think.  Personally, I think this is a great thing.  It drives me nuts when I hear other parents complaining that 'its too hard'.  I have seen the change in my oldest daughter recently where she now embraces this challenging work.  She used to complain and now she works to complete the projects well.

Without the challenge, you don't grow.  Without the challenge, you don't learn.

Martin, that is so true. Glad you liked.

I really like the Osborn quote. We always have to reach out and up to achieve.

Rich, if we do not, we are sure to fail.

Danny I like the Osborn quote best.  So many times we fall into complacency because it's easier then striving for bigger, better, harder!
