53 Comments on How to Pack a Garage When Moving
Thanks for the tips on packing the garage. Thia area is such a catch all for everything. I'm sure sellers will benefit from this when they are moving out of their homes.
Betty
Julia... such kind words. Thank you very much!!
Betty... I hope these tips help all of your sellers. Thanks for stopping by!
I had a messy expereince with a undrained lawn mower a couple of moves ago! One caveat I would emphasis is to leave out any tools that you could need to break down things that take up alot of space. Or maybe a screw driver if you need to take a door off a hinge to get the couch out the door.
Hi Rosalie... yes, keeping a small took kit available at both the old location and new location is very important! Thanks for the reminder!
Peggy...I couldn't agree more! I always like to start with the garage and then the basement.
So true, Goran, since both places generally have items that are not used on a daily basis and can be packed ahead of time!
I like your ideals, Peggy and I'm happy you're in this area. I'll keep you in mind for future transactions.
Thanks so much Bryan... appreciate your thoughtfulness :)
Peggy - Garages are just a pain sometimes, and you've given ideas to make it easier. Also, you've just reminded me, I noticed how dirty the umbrella gets the other day.
Hi Peggy -- and by packing, clearing and cleaning the garage when your home is on the market -- it will show soooo much better too.
Christine.... it's easy to not notice some things around us because we're so used to looking at them! Good luck with your umbrella cleaning :)
Michael... so true...
Peggy - you have some super suggestions in this post. The garage is the last thing packed, and the least planned in my house.
Peggy Packing the garage can be an overwhelming task and the ideas you shared will really help.
I know, Tom...and, yet it holds the most amount of items that are rarely used!!
Jennifer... thanks for your visit and kind words.
Peggy, I would imagine many people would think to pack the garage last. Your reason for packing it first is so spot on! That's why you do what you do ... you know what you are doing and are great at it. Lots of good tips here as well. Congrats on the Feature.
Hi Kathleen... the feature was appreciated! And, thanks also to Kathy Streib for re-blogging.... it seems so logical to me to begin packing from the outside in...but, to homeowners, it just doesn't occur to them :)
Peggy~ The last time we moved (6 years ago) we moved the garage stuff ourselves in the bed of our truck. We didn't do much packing and probably should have!
Donna... that's so funny. Guess you weren't going too far!!!!
No, about 8 miles total.
Donna - one's gotta do what one's gotta do :)
