Had a lot of banter last week as the Packers whalloped the Seahawks despite the terrible start in Green Bay.  The buzz this week is the dirty play of the Giants, the inconsistency of Eli....before the playoffs and the consistency of him during the playoffs, and of course, the legend of Brett and the weather....ooooh the weather.

No surprise here that Favre has had his day and his days are numbered, but this year seems magical in an Elway-esque sort of way.  I'm excited to see what this game brings.  In my heart of hearts, I think that this will be a hard fought toe to toe game, but I think that (in my heart) the Packers are going to the super bowl.

What makes this game so intriguing is that it may be very similar to the Ice Bowl of 1967.  The temperature at game time....was -13 degress F.  http://www.profootballhof.com/history/decades/1960s/ice_bowl.jsp.  That, my friend is out of control.  This Sunday it will be a veritable heatwave at a balmy 5 degrees above zero.  Windchill, of course will make it down below -5 or 10, but we'll have to wait to gametime to see.

My 70 year old dad and 69 year old mother are so excited that they picked up a pair of tickets on the 50 yard line 5 rows up.  Dad may be drinking a few Bloody Marys and mom may look for shelter inside having a hot chocolate or two if the wind chill gets too out of control.  Somehow, I really feel that by my mom watching Brett so close to the field that she'll be able to keep warm inside.  Dad will have a little extra Tabasco to keep him warm until the final seconds tick down and they start looking for their super bowl tickets.

Eli and company have been playing awfully well.  I think the Giants have a chance at this one.

The Packers will win...I do hope it is competitive so the press will give Manning a break. Of course, if the Giants lose, he will catch any way! And, the 50 may be finer, but TV is better at 5 degrees!

As long as somebody beats the Patriots I'll be happy, but if it's the Packers then all the better!

Being an avid Bears fan I am used to rooting against the Pack, but I can't help but respect what Favre has done in his tenure.  I actually do want the Pack to win this week and it would be great for them to win the Super Bowl.  That wayFavre could go out Elway-esque; on Top.

If winning is what is needed to convince Favre to hang up the cleats; GREAT.  I would love to see a new QB in Greenbay and forget about the misery that Favre has caused to the Bear faithful over the years.  Although this year it was nice.

Please Mr. Favre.  Retire and collect your gold jacket so the Packer faithful can know how difficult it is to find a good QB.  Bring on the Aaron Rogers era!

Larry,

The weather will be a major factor....no matter how the players say they don't care.

I hope for Favre to make it to the Super Bowl...yet you have to consider how the other Manning has played the last month....I think it will be a good game none the less.

Larry - I think that Farve and the Pack should have this one no problem.

BTW: I am still struggling with the fact that this game could have been in Seattle. Seriously, it is killing me.

I think the game of 1967 was with the Dallas Cowboys?  I remember that game- it was miserable and poor Dallas couldn't hold on to the ball.  I am a Cowboys fan - at least through Emmitt Smith days.  I do hope the Packers win (don't know how anyone has a chance in those conditions) since the Giants beat Dallas last week.  I am amazed they never built a dome.  Do they want us to believe they are really crazy!!!  LOL

Brrr.  I hope the heat waves strikes and it gets a little warmer.  Your parents are lucky ducks with those seats.  I will join you in rooting for the packers.  Is it my imagination or do you look like a younger version of Favre?

Reminds me of the "Facing the Giants" movie.  Excellent movie.  Thank you for commenting on my blog.  Taking a $100,000 loss is very painful.  Where has the empathy gone in this industry?  May 2008 be a great year to you.  Lu

Opponents (including New England) have made the mistake of underestimating the Packers before.  Not smart..

Giants could be an upset. We shall see, the packers definitely have the advantage. It is going to be a fun game to watch.
