It is always exciting news when HGTV picks a new location for one of its featured showhomes. This time it is the HGTV Smart Home and will be built in Paradise Key, a charming coastal community in Jacksonville Beach's South Beach. 

 

 

Paradise Key is within walking distance to local beaches and minutes away from all the restaurants and shopping you can handle. Still it's coastal construction will make you feel like you have been transported to a far off vacation destination. Reminiscent of Key West, the wrap around porches, roofs with long overhangs and observation decks, show Southern architecture and charm to its fullest potential. 

 

 

While a homeowner may choose an outside builder, Glen Layton Homes is the preferred builder for Paradise Key (South Beach) and will oversee the HGTV Smart Home current being built. Designed by Mark Stauffer, AIA, the HGTV Smart House will be about 2400 square feet, with another 1000+ square feet in covered porches, decks and a pool. Smart home technology will allow home owners to monitor power consumption by tapping into control systems that run nearly every electrical appliance and security system in the house.
