What To Do If Your Rental House Goes To Foreclosure?

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty ONE Group

What to do if your rental house goes into foreclosure? Well, basically, the renter needs to keep paying rent and the Landlord needs to keep up with any repairs until the trustee sale. After the Trustee Sale, the bank will contact you and let you know what will happen next. Most likely they will want you to move, but you are entitled to remain in the house until the end of your lease as long as you keep on paying your monthly rent. Renters can never be 100% sure that the house they are entering into a lease with will not go into foreclosure, but you can check the tax records prior to entering into the lease and see if they are late on payments or if they might be going into foreclosure. Thanks for sharing.  I think a lot of renters think they have to move but as long as they have a lease it works the same in MN.
