The Town of East Hampton Lake Pocotopaug Commission is sponsoring a 2 hour "Lake Pocotopaug Conference" on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7p.m. in the media center of the East Hampton Middle School, 19 Chillds Rd, East Hampton, CT. The purpose of the conference is to create opportunities for partnership among town agencies for improving Lake Pocotopaug by raising awareness, providing information, and promoting solutions. The Lake Commission has invited various town department leaders as well as members of the Town Council, Board of Finance, Parks & Recreation and watershed land-use and development related town boards, commissions and agencies. All interested residents are encouraged to attend. This conference is an opportunity for residents to show their interest and concern to the Lake Commission and town officials by attending and participating in the discussions. The town's lake consultant, ENSR International, will present at the conference as well as members of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency, Planning and Zoning Commission and Lake Commission. They will talk about the cause of the lake problems, current lake conditions, lake survey results, how other towns have addressed similar problems and future directions for East Hampton. This is the primary public event of the year for the town about Lake Pocotopaug by the Lake Commission. A large turnout is expected. The Lake Commission recommends that residents arrive prior to the start of the event.
