I was in Panther Trace yesterday previewing some homes that are for sale for some friends of mine. There are many wetland conservation areas and as I passed one of the wetlands, I spotted two adults and two chick Sandhill Cranes. I pulled onto the side of Panther Trace Boulevard to capture a series of pictures as mom and dad Sandhill foraged for food. The parents worked together, not only making sure the chicks were fed, but leading them to choice spots to learn how to grub. More about the Sandhill Cranes further down.
Panther Trace is a planned community in Riverview, FL, just southeast of Tampa by about 40 minutes. It is a popular home for families throughout the Tampa Bay area because of the close proximity to Tampa, Brandon, Bradenton and Sarasota. It also happens to be a top choice for military stationed at MacDill Air Force Base.
An amazing part of the Panther Trace community is exactly how "planned" it is. Each "village" within Panther Trace has been designed to keep traffic to a minimum and allowing easy access to exit to nearby arteries of US 301 and I 75. There are two large recreation areas with swimming pools, tennis courts and playgrounds. One of the areas sports has a baseball field and a "beach" type volley ball court.
Education is secure with "A" rated Collins Elementary School. I stopped and spoke to a mother as she was picking up her two children and I asked her what she liked most about the school. She said "Everything! The teachers are great here, but so are the parents. Everyone works together to make this a great school and it is." And that leads me back to the Sandhill Crane family. Sandhill Cranes mate for life. They need the right environment to thrive and they have found that in Panther Trace. And they are there everyday serving the residents as they add balance to the wetlands by controlling the population of mice, snakes and worms. And so goes the cycle with people too.
