I used to write "milestone" posts on AR. I know I write one for 100,000, through 500,000. Then I decided to focus less on points and "get down to business" of making AR work for me and bring in the bucks. I did, it has. Yesterday was a fantastic day for me in business. I had my best closing of the year and I got to sit next to Richard. And while more than a year ago I quit paying attention to getting "points" I did still watch the rankings. I have no idea if a consumer ever goes to the "state" to see them, but when AR changed things some time ago unless you were sitting next to Richard in GA your photo is TINY. I did not like being tiny so I was just watching until it was very close to the moment when I would hit the submit button and be sitting next to Richard.
Well as it turns out earlier this year I was able to send a referral Richard Wiesser's way. My BFF had a friend with a home to sell in Newnan and through ActiveRain I knew "just who they should call". Now when I sent this referral I never filled out a referral form or formally asked for anything, but Richard insisted I would get my referral fee. And he got it sold, it closed and my check arrived in the mail. Knowing what a super stand up guy Richard is... was another reason I'd like to sit next to him.
So yesterday after a closing and dropping off soft foods to my ailing had surgery on Tuesday to have wisdom teeth removed daughter, my Donald and I took a road trip. And on short notice and extremely late for lunch, we arrived and let Richard guide us a really cool local spot in Newnan for lunch. We had lunch at the Redneck Gourmet. My Donald had a FRIED sausage wrapped in Bacon in a hot dog bun (yeah that's redneck alright), but he also said it was great. I had a yummy chicken wrap and Richard had a wrap with chicken salad.
We enjoyed chatting about real estate, funny things that have happened to us in our businesses and even mutual people at ActiveRain we love and some that only one of us have met or know that perhaps the other might want to know. One story would lead to another and it was really not a long enough visit. We walked around the square and went in the visitors center. Newnan is really a beautiful little town and the downtown area looks fabulous and in full swing with business. His office was huge and really nice.
And when I hit the "submit" button I'm going to get to sit next to Richard on ActiveRain in the Georgia rankings. (Oh did I mention he's #1). I'll always be chasing Richard I'm sure. But I plan to keep sitting next to him. But I have to say after a really nice visit yesterday, sitting next to him in person is nice too. If you need an agent in Newnan, Georgia, Richard should be your guy.
And Richard, you're gonna have to make a road trip down to Lake Sinclair sometime, so I can show you around. I enjoyed our visit and am looking forward to sitting next to you on ActiveRain.

This is such a cool story Tammy! I have read many of Richard's blogs and am a big fan of his. On a side note, your Donald's lunch sounds disgusting. :)
Some pretty good company at the top of the Georgia leader board. Congrats on all your AR success and making a personal connection with Richard
What a nice story. That's how real estate should be, professional, courteous and successful! Great friends along the way, what a super bonus. I need to go and see who I should be sitting next to!
Gene- I honestly can't even tell you what my original motivation was. Blogging was foreign to me when I started, but in short order I had a problem with a VA foreclosure and many many people reached out to me with information, contacts and phone numbers. They didn't do it on my post because they didn't want anyone to know "where the info came from", but they emailed me phone numbers of people who cared.
Inna- we had a blat, wish I had an entire day to sit and visit with him. He's a wealth of knowledge and so fun.
Jordon- one of these days I'm gonna make it to a meet up.
Myrl- Yeah, I've kinda been that way too. They come and go and then they are gone it's just too late to mention it. Of course I know you've visited with Elizabeth and know just what I mean. :)
Ellie - no doubt more important
Joan- glad you enjoyed it
Gary- I had calls from and made calls to several. Need to do more of that.
Jared- like that's not what you would have ordered too
Brian- was a very nice afternoon and I'm so glad I made the drive
Corinne- There was so many people I enjoyed being next to, but ... very happy to sit next to Richard
This is a very cool story, and I had no doubt that Richard would be a stand up guy.... although I had no idea that he'd try to "finish off" the competition by having them eat fried stuff, deep fried in more fried stuff so their arteries would clog, and he'd have the field to himself.
diabolical ;-)
How great to get to sit next to someone you respect and to share lunch too.
@Alan#35
LOL, the fact that you "get it" says a lot more about you than me!!!
Richard looks different in a polo shirt instead of a suit. I had to look twice to figure out who that was, LOL.
Good morning Tammy
I loved this post in so many ways. So glad you guys got to sit next to each other, meet & actually do business. Congrats for sitting next to each other on the leader-board. I took a double take also as I'm so use to see Richard in his suit!!
One of my favorite bloggers and loves the guitar as well. ..your post feels good for anyone that has been blogging for years. .
This is just the nicest post! People can become so dear to us here on Active Rain!
Tammy, what a great story and post! Its always nice to meet up with an ActiveRain member and be able to put a face to a photo. It nice to know you can work with someone like Richard where a handshake is his word.
Way to go Tammy. Redneck Gourmet sounds like a fun place to eat. Redneck Gourmet is a fun example of oxymoron.
Tammy - great story to share here on AR. It is wonderful to be able to connect with folks alike in another state and do business together.
Congratulations Tammy! Glad you all had a great day to mark the occasion and thanks for sharing with us!
Bruce
Tammy, great post and you look wonderful sitting next to Richard. In both cases!!
Aw heck Alan, I'm southern, I eat fried pickles and fried snickers bars... it's all good. :)
Cindy- we had a great time, I know all the folks I met at RETSO would just love him.
Elizabeth- I remember the first time I met him briefly at Raincamp and I didn't recognize him all casual either.
Fernando- yeah, I'm gonna have to check out that group he's in one of these days too
kathryn- It's true.
Michael- there are many people I've come to trust like that here.
Eily- it was a fun place.
Mike- I have met several from other states too at various times.
Bruce- thanks and it was awesome
Silvia- yes, they are meaningful and real.
Thanks Connie, you're sweet.
Oh, what a lovely day trip. You know, it looks as though you're wearing a "crown" the way the window casing is behind you in the photo. That's our Tammy!!
What a cool post. That just sounds like it was one those really good days for many reasons. Both you and Richard are on my list for Georgia referrals. And congratulations for sitting next to Richard.
