Who ever heard of a Triathlon for Families? Well there is one in Katy Texas !

The inaugural Heart of Katy Family Triathlon will be held on Saturday September 8. 2012. The event will benefit Christus St. Catherine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Triathlon will start at 8 AM and is being held at the Gerri Ayers Pool in Green Trails on Kingsland Blvd. and Crescent Green in Katy Texas (just east of Fry road and across the street from the hospital). Sign for Christus St. Catherine

All participants will swim, run and bike with the mileage or distance requirement being adjusted for the age of the participant. Registration can be made for individuals and for a family team of two persons. I personally really like having the mileage requirement adjusted so more children can take part and hopefully compete with a member of their family.

Prices for registration are $15 for children ages 5-15 years old; $25 per person for adults. Registration closes on Friday September 7, 2012 at 11 PM.

I just went to their web site and this event is so popular all folks who want to participate and had not yet registered will be put on a waiting list!

Like I said numerous times there is something in Katy Texas for just about everyone and now even a Triathlon for families.

What a fun idea. I've never heard of a family marathon but think it's a perfect way to get the entire family excited about fitness. My sis-in-law is a triathlete and is in such great shape. All that cross training really works.
