New VA Appraisal Guidelines a win for San Diego military homebuyers

New VA Appraisal Guidelines is a win for San Diego military homebuyers - As of July 1, 2012 new VA appraisal guidelines went into effect to help military homebuyers be more competitive in the housing market.

The new guidelines reduced the timeline for the VA appraisal completion from 10 business days to 7.  This shorter time frame helps VA buyers appeal more to sellers in a multiple offer situation and increase the buyers ability to meet the contractual obligations to close. The changes applies to California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

The changes in the VA appraisal guidelines were due to the tireless efforts of Lorraine Santirosa a former Navy Spouse and real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty. Lorraine gained the support of Congressman Bob Filner of the House Veterans Affairs Commitee to amend the guidelines.
