The Sun Sets on the Boys of Summer...

It's been a week since the beginning of the Labor Day weekend and most of us are back to our old routines.  Although traditionally we celebrate New Year's in January, September seems to be a point of demarkation and renewal for most of us.  The summer is over, if you are a student, you are back in school.  Many people that I know think that this is the time to clean house, make resolutions and begin anew.  Sometimes its an opportunity for a do-over on the New Years resolutions we broke months ago!  However you look at it, the unofficial end of summer has come and gone.

Nevertheless,  I will spend the next couple of weeks posting photos of the summer just past.  Maybe its because I  can't quite let go - or perhaps its because the fall foliage is just not out yet.   In any case though we mourn that the boys of summer are gone  - we embrace the new beginnings of fall.

The above photo was taken in late June when the summer was just starting.  The photo was done in HDR-lite.

Yes, you're right...and we've been getting a lot of calls these last 2 days w/ those wanting to fix up their homes right away.  BTW, I am seeing the leaves starting to change here.  I noticed a bit on the highway last week (just a touch) and a lot more now...esp in the northern parts of the county.

Thanks David - It is such a peaceful sight - I was lucky to be able to capture the colors. I used to really love summer. This one was too hot though.  But it did move quickly!

Bob- It must still be steaming hot where you are.

Hi Ruthmarie, Delightful. Sunsets are always so different affected by the cloud mix but I have rarely seen one that wasn't just amazing. I have a new HDR plug-in for Aperture ( Mac) and so far I haven't be able to get it to operate. I am anxious to try it out.

Ruthmarie - I love that photo. Fall was in the air today despite the sun, I could feel the cooler air.

Hi William - This one is was done using photomatrix - although I have also used Efex plugin with Lightroom.  I didn't know that there was one that worked with aperture. Sunsets are all different - and tricky to photograph well.

Hi Gail - I feel the fall snap too!  Thanks for commenting.  I like this one too.  I kept waiting to put it out there!  don't know why...
